I.D. Help
Found at SunnyVale Sunday largest fruit body 50 cm across.
Sorry, Fran. If you want to give me directions I can pop over and look at it. Also I am thinking of running a tree identification course starting this summer. Would you be interested? Then we are having a talk by a tree specialist called Bel Hale on October 8th at our monthly indoor meeting, to which non-members are always welcome. Thanks for your post. Steve
I don't recognise it from the photo, but I was in Sunny Vale today, looking for amphibians. (Didn't find any.)
ReplyDeleteIt's an unusual bluish colour. The tree looks like a Poplar, is that right? It could help with the id.
Yes, the species of tree would help. It looks a bit like willow bark, a suggestion is Willow Bracket (Phellinus igniarius)??
ReplyDeleteIm about as good at tree id as iam at fungi id, but thanks anway.
