Hardcastle Crags 26-07-13

Michael Sykes, myself  and my magnificent mini mycologist Oliver had a foray and we managed to find quite a few species. Some were in better condition than others especially the Boletus calopus, but it pleased Oliver as it was really colourful and he enjoyed touching the pores and staining them blue. Everything was later taken home and positively identified examined under the microscope.

North Dean Wood 25-07-13

Michael Sykes and I have a pleasant walk with Basil and we stumbled upon these fungi along the way. We also found quite a few Russulas which I will add when I've examined them microscopically.

Hardcastle Crags 19-07-13

Michael and I had a short walk around the Crags in the one of the hottest days so far, luckily we were under the tree canopy most of the time so it wasn't too oppressive.

Pexwood, Todmorden 20th & 24th July 2013

Oliver, Portia and myself had a foray around the neighbourhood and we found lots of powdery mildews infecting a variety of species.

Yorkshire Naturalists Union visit to Cromwell Bottom 17-07-13

It was a glorious sunny day and a complete contrast to the earlier visit by the members of the YNU, when it rained continuously throughout the entire day. It was a fantastic day for recording a variety of different species and I acquired a lot of knowledge from the enthusiastic group of experts. The colours of the Russula versicolour that Bruce found did not come out very well in the photo taken later at home, but in the field the the pink, olive green, brown and grey on the cap were noted by all.

Park Wood 15-07-13

I didn't expect to find much due the heat wave, but there were plenty of Phallus impudicus to be found in various locations and I was surprised that the Scutellinia wasn't completely desiccated, so it turned out to be quite a productive foray.
