North Dean Wood 28-09-13

Oliver, Steve and myself joined Julie Swift and Robin Dalton for the Council's Fungi Foray they had organised. It was well attended by adults and children who were all very interested in learning more about fungi. We did find many different species and everyone, especially the children did a brilliant job of finding them and Oliver was in his element and he was very excited to share his knowledge of mycology with everyone who came.

Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) - above and below. Oliver picked it before I could get a photo in situ

Sulphur Tuft (Hypholoma fasciculare).

Ruby Bolete (Boletus rubellus).

Toads Ear (Otidea bufonia).

Microscopic view of asci and spores.
