Park Wood, 04.03.2014

Michael and I haven't been here for some time now so we thought we would pay a visit. There were masses of healthy Exidia glandulosa attached to nearly every fallen Oak branch but this clump was the only one that we could find that had been parasitised by Heteromycophaga glandulosae.

Scarlet Elfcup (Sarcoscypha austriaca) above and below.

Asco 8 spored and straight.

Spores notched at both ends, guttulate, hyaline. 29.7-25.3 x 11-14.3 microns.

Paraphyses slender with rounded tips containing reddish matter.

Hairs septate and curled.
