Salterhebble 03.03.2014

Michael and I had a pleasant walk to see the red army of Sarcos along the canalside


Yellow Brain (Tremella mesenterica) on Oak (Quercus. sp). 



Yes, there are well over a thousand specimens on quite a small stretch on the canalside . Michael counted seventy one of them in his photo above.  





Asci 8 spored, no colour change in iodine. Spores hyaline, guttulate, notched ends. 30-35 x 12-14 microns.


Hairs hyaline, septate and wavy. 


Jelly Ear (Auricularia auricula-judae) on two different Goat Willow trees (Salix caprea).






Exidia plana. 


Scurfy Twiglet (Tubaria furfuracea) on various little bits of wood. 


Rosellinia aquila - above and spores below.


Spores smooth, dark brown with germination cleft, guttulate when young as shown above. 22-25.3 x 6.5-7.7 microns.
