Today in North Dean Woods, it was exhilarating to find some fresh specimens of fungi, at last!
Pale Oyster (Pleurotus pulmonarius).
Beechmast Candlesnuff (Xylaria carpophila)
Above and below: Variable Oysterling (Crepidotus variabilis). The caps are not very interesting, however the gills underneath are very pretty. They are only very tiny, approximately 1 cm across.

ReplyDeleteAfter the other post about beechmast candlesnuff I found it was just about everywhere I looked for it, usually buried in dead beech leaves.

ReplyDeleteYes Steve, the Beechmast Candlesnuff is everywhere. I had to dig this one up with my knife as it was buried deep under the leaf litter.
