Mixenden Reservoir 21.02.2014

Michael and I investigated the conifer plantation beside the reservoir and found these species of fungi pictured below. We didn't manage to get round all of the wood so we are planning to return soon.


Antrodia serialis on Pinus sylvestris stump. It has been noted as being uncommon but widespread and I do know where there is another spectacular example in the Crags.


Netted Crust (Byssomerulius corium).


Peniophora limitata - above and an aged one below.





White Brain (Exidia thuretiana).


Purplepore Bracket (Trichaptum abietinum) on Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris).


Conifercone Cap (Baeospora myosura) on a buried pine cone. Above and gills below. 





Spores ellipsoid, smooth 3-4 x 1.5-2. 1000x above and to demonstrate that the spores were amyloid at 400x below.
