Crow Nest Wood 03.02.14

I walked from the Mytholmroyd end of the wood to Hebden Bridge railway station then returned by way of Carr Lane.


Scarlet Elfcup (Sarcoscypha austriaca).


Jelly Ear (Auricularia auricula-judae) found on Sambucus nigra and Acer pseudoplatanus.


Wrinkled Crust (Phlebia radiata).


Blushing Bracket (Daedaleopsis confragosa).


Beech Jellydisc (Neobulgaria pura var. foliacea).


Hairy Curtain Crust (Stereum hirsutum).


Black Bulgar (Bulgaria inquinans).


Cramp Balls/King Alfred's Cakes (Daldinia concentrica).


Glistening Inkcap (Coprinellus micaceus).


Brittle Cinder (Kretzschmaria deusta). Thanks to Chris Yeates for unravelling the mystery!





Spores hyaline, fusiform, multi-guttulate, dark brown/black 25-33 x 5.5-6 microns.



 KOH extractable pigments - orange (9H - 910 cinnamon).
